Hibernate Pojo Generator generates all the Java code necessary to access a database via Hibernate Annotations (+ Spring) including JUnit tests (1 per table) that are able to run immediately without further customizations. This is a simple RMI wrapper around Oracle Berkeley DB Java edition (www.oracle.com/technology/products/berkeley-db/index.html) which originally comes in embedded mode. Now you can use it as a database daemon. Spring is used to export RMI service.
