This appears to be a problem with Windows deleting temporary cached files. This includes 'matlabrc', which initializes compiled MATLAB programs like Artifact3-D . You can solve this by deleting the temporary cache (mcrCache9.3), and then re-opening Artifact3-D as usual - this creates a new cache in which the matlabrc will be restored. To delete the folder, go to C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Temp[username]\mcrCache9.3.
