I only opened a new tracker because there is no apparent way to attach a patch to an opened tracker.
See the TEST_ASSERT_EQUALS Feature for more details.

This patch includes TEST_ASSERT_EQUALS, which requires an output operator to be defined for the object being tested, as well as TEST_ASSERT_EQUALS_MSG and TEST_ASSERT_EQUALS_OBJ which do not require an output operator. All three asserts require the equality operator being defined.

TEST_ASSERT_EQUALS

I would like to propose to introduce new assertion function called TEST_ASSERT_EQUALS. TEST_ASSERT could serve this way, but in case of failure for expression like x == 4 the failure message does not report what was the value of x. This complicates investigation of the reason of failure.
