You can find the current location OpenSong uses for your files from the same place in settings as described by Oon-Ee-Ng above. Below the radio buttons Default and Custom is a text box that shows the path. If part of the path is clipped by the edge of the text box, start selecting (highlighting) the text with your mouse and the text will scroll to make the rest visible. You can then copy the selected text to the clipboard by pressing Ctrl + C, then paste the path into the address bar of windows explorer...

Hi Bettina, you are addressing Garreth and talking about "openSong app". I assume you are talking about OpenSongApp, which is an app for Android devices. It is different from OpenSong, an application for desktop operating systems. You find OpenSongApp at www.opensongapp.com. On the other hand, you are talking about your "laptop". Did you mean tablet, do you have a notebook computer running Android, or are you talking about OpenSong indeed? That said, OpenSongApp stores it's songs as individual files...

I'll assume you're running a Windows laptop. When you install the app, when first run it should create a directory in your home folder which contains the folders Backgrounds, Scripture, Sets, Settings, and Songs. If I'm not mistaken it should be in your Documents folder under the subfolder OpenSong. So you just need to copy all your songs into C:\Users\\Documents\OpenSong\Songs The exact path may vary (for example if you use OneDrive I believe that moves some things around)....

Hi Bettina here My church laptop had to be wiped due to a virus infestation . I have a backup of all my songs on a USB stick which I have installed into the computer but can’t get it to link in with new installation of the app.. I’m obviously missing something to add them to the OpenSong data base. Would love some help in sorting this out. I have approx 650 songs to transfer would love it to be easy but so far no idea what to do. Thankyou

You can download a copy from Sourceforge. it is available as a .tar.gz archive and as a .deb package for both x64 and armhf (intended for Raspberry Pi). For some strange reason, the installation went into another 'Opensong' folder: D:\Nextcloud\Opensong\Opensong on the new machine. That would obviously have caused a syncing problem. Another question: will Opensong ever by made available for Linux? Microsuck is really ripping the lake from underneath the ducks and the soone I can get my machines free from all the bloatware and other nonsense, the better. There was a bug in unit conversion calculations between inches, points and centimeters which may have caused page size and margin settings to run off, and eventually cause an error as you got. It already has been fixed in the code repository and will be included in the next release. For now, the fix is, as you did. The modified OpenSong format that I developed to support Bibles that do not conform to the KJV book/chapter/verse structure was, in retrospect, very poorly described in FR #216. To the best of my knowledge, no one has created a Bible XML file in that format other than me. I have not created a DTD or other formal description, though perhaps I should since it provides a middle level between the simple OpenSong format and the Zefania 2005 format that is somewhat more complex...

OpenSong's own format is simpler, as it supports only the bare necessity for it to work in OpenSong. Bibles in this format should adhere to the versification of the King James Bible, i.e. use the same number of chapters for each book, and use the same number of verses for each chapter respectively. There is a file format extension to overcome this restriction, but as far as I know there's no public example and no public documentation for it. I would have to reverse engineer it (or maybe @swampcat...

I uninstalled 3.4.6 and removed any refence to Opensong, after which I installed 3.4.8, but this time on my cloud space, where I also store theWord and other Scripture files. This just makes it easier to use from the second computer. It opened well and works as I was used to - no more freezing in SET mode. Thanks for your tips, as the system integrity probably did the job. My next question is: how easy is it to convert a bible in pdf to a format for Opensong? I've looked at other posts, but can't...

With your update, I can't think of any problem within the set nor with anything that would be saved in any of the configuration files. I installed 3.4.8 on a different computer where everything seems to work fine, even older sets that would freeze my main computer. It is possible that there is a glitch in my computer, but I wouldn't know where to start looking, apart from completely blow the OS and reinstall everything. Any ideas?

As per your suggestion, I validated the file and it passed 100%. I deleted all the gibberish from the file, saved it under another name, opened that and had the same freezing result. Thanks for reporting back. It looks like you narrowed the source of the problem down to that set, or even the set item. It is probably easiest to use an older version of the set as a base for new edits. You may try to find the part within the set, that causes the problem, but that is likely not that easy, especially when you are not used to edit xml files in a text editor. From what I understand, you are able to load the set into OpenSong, but problems appear as soon as you make that particular set...

Thanks for your suggestion. However, it didn't work. I renamed the file in question "preferences.plist-old" and restarted Opensong. It looke fine, but what I used to di, was take the previous week's playlist and update it with new songs and images, also changing the date. I do this by opening the set from the previous week. I have an item {date (custom} with specific information. As soon as I select that item, it freezes up and nothing works - not the keyboard, not the mouse, except killing the application...

Your Question is about OpenSongApp There are instructions in their user manual: Import multiple files I have a copy of OpenSongApp on my phone, so I checked it out for you. When You choose the Multiple files option from the menu, you get to an instructional page. Tap File Chooser there. So, what happens when you start OpenSong now? Does it partially or completely start and then freeze (i.e. it does not respond to keyboard input and mouse clicks). Does it display any messages? Did you configure it to start up in Set mode? Did you configure it to automatically load the last Set and / or Song?
