Protodata is a language for manually creating binary data files without the use of a hex editor, with the original purpose of prototyping new file formats.

Supports all common integral and floating-point types.
Allows inline annotations for added readability.
Allows endianness qualifications: big-endian, little-endian, or native.
Common shorthand equivalents of all commands.
