StaxRip does not lurk for existing components but installs duplicates of any related package, including avisynth and VirtualDubMod :((
2011 turned out to be the year of a clear decision towards a free video standard.
The website of Staxrip does not mention any of those crucial events, it is unchanged since 2010.
The software does not contain the important keyword VP8, although it uses VP8 under
"webm" as coDec name.
In fact, it did misbehave in my case and even converted audio into 48kHz that was meant to be remuxed only.
I ended up once more having spent a couple of hours just to convert a video.
Staxrip helped promoting the common solution of just uploading anything to youTube and basta.

well the truth this project is one of the best because it is incredible to comprecion and quality you can get this software and with this super luxury mkv container and the encoding is great. I have a small problem but I hold to sell a product called popcorn hour and spend that product is not my video namas audio bluray I am referring to that in handling the deluxe DVD and the merge and conversion to the problem mkv is in the bluray maybe because it's beta but very good software

Great product. I tested MANY converter GUIs, and this was by far the most stable and functional when it came to transcoding hundreds of different formats from thousands of different video files into something my Xbox (not 360) could play.

Now easily one of (if not) the finest GUI's for video and audio encoding. Very impressive number of options and customizations available in the beautiful UI, while maintaining ease of use. Nine thumbs way up! Highly recommended.

I would like to thank the developer for continuing this project. Good thing to bring it over to sourceforge too. This has been my favorite and most used encoder for high quality videos because there are so much x264 options. I always used x264 triple pass encoding. But I still think at the current stage (version 1.1.1.4) users who lack encoding knowledge struggles to use this software. Audio encoding options can be improved, such as have a button to turn on and off the auto gain, changes the frequencies, etc, since some people won't know how to edit the command line. Making StaxRip more user friendly will get it more users base. Similar to WinFF is a good idea, it has many presets, but at the same time show advance options only when the user wants to.
